Our spine holds the gates to the different aspects of our being. We can either elongate our spine and open these gates, or they can become closed through compression. Learning how to lengthen our spine is learning how to extend our potential. It requires an equal balance between both strength and flexibility; a process that teaches us how to contract, while at the same time let go.
Optimal strength is found through a full range of movement and so developing flexibility, when it is required, is always good place to start. When more symmetrical motion is available across our joints, strength can then be refined from a neutral position and serve as is intended; to support our joints, as opposed to pulling them out of position.
The primal position of sitting crossed legs quickly tests our ability to support our joints in alignment and quickly reflects our ability to open our hips. Our pelvis stores our primitive energy and so it is our hips that tend to close up when we feel threatened at a soul level, and can then in turn come to absorb too much negative emotion.
Open your hips and come to release any accumulation of negativity, liberating the ascension of your Divine essence.
