Remember how easy it was to sit cross legged with your friends when you were a child?
As life’s responsibilities and stresses take over so does the natural development of chronic aches and pains if they are not managed with the right care and attention. Sitting in a chair becomes the new norm and sitting on the floor less accepted, giving our hips less opportunity to root through the floor and open.
Open your hips and open yourself to years of stored emotional discomforts. Look and you shall find!
Adopt a cross legged position placing your left leg in front (using any Yoga blocks/pillows under your bottom if required). Lean forwards and push your sitting bones down.
Turn and lift your chest to your right aligning your sternum with the line of your right thigh. Reach your hands forwards along the floor (keeping your sternum lifted) until you feel a comfortable stretch.
Make sure you keep both sitting bones down throughout and take 6 deep breaths, in the nose and out through the mouth assists with deep release.
Now re-position your legs so that your right leg is in front and turn and stretch to your left side.
